Choose your neobank's first product

Receiving payments or managing card spending: choose the first use case and decide what can wait.

Ask about the customer's last payment

Ask who the person paid or expected money from, which service they used and where they got stuck. Walk through the steps. You'll learn which part of the problem already costs them time or money.

Check how often it happens. Monthly work payments and a one-off purchase need different product decisions. The pilot should establish when a customer would return.

Compare launch requirements

For freelancers, start with account details and an incoming payment. For agencies, examine a project card and spending reconciliation. Each option has its own customer profile, provider terms and support workload.

Assess whether you can reach the first customers and support their payments. Extra features won't help if the provider doesn't accept that customer group or your team can't operate the service.

Set the pilot criteria

Before development, define what needs to happen: the customer passes verification, completes a payment and understands the final amount. Record every point that requires manual help.

Compare the pilot results with those criteria. Expansion should follow working transactions and an understanding of what the first customers cost to serve.

Your next step

Choose a use case you can test with customers you can reach. Define a successful first payment and the provider terms it requires.
