Write a neobank launch brief
Describe your customers, the payments they need and your team’s responsibilities before speaking with developers and a payment provider.
Who will use the neobank
A freelancer with overseas clients and an agency managing project costs need different services. One needs receiving details; the other needs to separate purchases and review card charges.
Choose the first customer group. Record where they live, what they do and how they handle payments today. For business customers, include the country of registration and type of business.
How the customer receives the money
Name the payer and recipient, the currency and the outcome. For example, a company pays a dollar invoice and a freelancer receives USDC. Specify who converts the funds and where they arrive.
Include a failed payment. Who sees the rejection reason, where can the customer provide a requested document, and who checks a return? Those questions affect both integration and support.
Who runs the service
Record what your team, white.cards and the provider each handle. Customer registration, document requests, transaction reviews and support enquiries all need an owner.
Ask the provider to confirm eligibility for your customer group. A country appearing on a general list doesn't establish that a particular program accepts the customer and their payments.
What belongs in the brief
A short document is enough for the first discussion. Mark unanswered questions clearly so they can be addressed during scoping.
- Customers: audience type and countries of residence or registration.
- Payment: payer, recipient, currency and how the funds arrive.
- Resources: app, developers, support and customer acquisition channel.
- Pilot: which transactions need to work and how you'll assess them.
Your next step
Describe one customer and one payment on a page. Add the terms you still need the provider to confirm.
